We were honoured when we got a call from Nixon Watches in the USA asking us to produce them a bike to help launch their new "Ranger" line of watches.
They wanted something that not only looked good on their trade stand at Baselworld 2015, but something they could fire up and hoon around on once in a while. It also had to capture the spirit of the watch, the colours and materials it was made from, as well as the environment that inspired the watch's design - the "Lost Coast" of Southern California.
We secured a Triumph Scrambler from Hinckley, removed as much weight as we could, and set about reimagining the bike with some very special features:- we ceramic coated the frame and most other parts, removed of the airbox, fitted K-tech's amazing Razor shocks and Tracker fork internals, replaced the rear wheel with a 5" rim, made a bespoke sprocket cover with Nixon logo, fabricated an electronics/battery box and rear fender, fitted a Motogadget Chronoclassic speedo, replaced the brake lines with blue ones from Venhill, bobbed the front mudguard, made a special headlight bracket from steel rod, made a Horween leather seat and tank strap to match the watch strap, plus a frame-mounted Nixon "Mini Blaster" Horween leather speaker pouch, Horween leather grips, LED indicators with integrated brake lights, a bespoke lobster backed x-piece exhaust, painted the tank and mudguards in delicious matte paint, and - at Nixon's Californian behest - made a removable surfboard rack!
This bike will soon be tearing up and down the coast roads of California. Its just a shame it won't be us
